Matt Thomas was born on August 4, 1994, to Greg and Martha Thomas in Decatur, Illinois, United States. He also has a big brother, Tony, and a sister named Josie Thomas.
Greg, his father, died by suicide when he was nine years old. He never paid attention to grooming his three small children because he was a persistent alcoholic and drug user.
Martha was left alone after husband died at the age of 45, but she did not give up. Even when her spouse was around, he was unhelpful. As a result, she toiled away and provided for her family.

But, despite her difficult circumstances, Martha never gave up, and as a result of her perseverance, they are all now thriving in the careers they selected as children.
Matt has been sporty since he was a child, and he has been a sports fan since he was five years old. He used to practice games in their backyard all the time, and Martha always made sure he had everything he needed.
Thomas gradually transferred his focus totally to basketball, and his talents as a basketball player developed. Martha was a gifted athlete who aided and assisted him in his development.

Career in College
Thomas attended Iowa State University in Ames after graduating from high school and played basketball for the Iowa State Cyclones.
He was entrusted to start nearly half of the matches that season because he had just joined the squad as one of the greatest high school prospects. However, he had a poor season, averaging only 5.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.
As a result, although playing in all of the games, the team limited his playing time, and he only played 15.3 minutes in his sophomore season.
He did, however, improve noticeably in his last two seasons after receiving more opportunities while Iowa State guard Naz Long was hurt. In his final year, Matt averaged 12.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
A Professional Life
Matt Thoms was not selected in the NBA draft in 2017. There were far greater college season performances than him that season, therefore it was clear from the start that he would not be selected by any NBA teams.
Following the incident, Thomas played in the 2017 NBA summer league for the Los Angeles Lakers. He had some great performances for the Lakers before signing with the Monbus Obradoiro to play in the Spanish Liga ACB on August 29, 2017.
Following his time with the Obradoiro, he moved on to Valencia Basket in Spain for a new season. With Valencia, he averaged 12.7 points and 1.3 rebounds per game, and he was a key part of their EuroCup championship success in 2019.
Participating in the NBA
