Joe Asher and Antoinetta Gallo Asher welcomed her into the world in 1975 in Fenton, Michigan. She grew up alongside her two sisters, Monique Asher and Amber Asher. Taryn Asher had an ambition of being a TV journalist since she was eight years old.
She attended St. John Catholic School in Fenton for her scholastic studies before transferring to Powers Catholic High School. Likewise, she earned a degree in journalism and political science from Michigan State University, from which she graduated in 1997. She had already started working as a reporter for WLNS while still in college.
