In Dvirkivshchyna, Ukrainian SSR, on September 29, 1976, Andriy Mykolayovtch Shevchenko was born.
He was conceived in the Mykola Hryhorovych Shevchenko family, a praporshchik. His family relocated to a freshly developed area of Kiev.
In 1986, Shevchenko attended the 216th City School.
He participated in the football program after being relocated from his community as a result of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant tragedy. He was a talented boxer in the LLWI Ukrainian junior division when he was younger, but he eventually decided to switch to football.
Professional Career of Andriy Shevchenko
Between 1994 and 1995, Shevchenko participated in eight games for the Ukraine U18 squad. In 1995, he made his debut abroad. Later, he participated in 111 matches for the Ukrainian national team and scored 48 goals in all.
Shevchenko first publicly endorsed the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine in the late 1990s. During the 2004 Ukrainian presidential election, he made an appearance on the campaign trail for Viktor Yanukovych.
He put up incredible displays for Ukraine at the FIFA World Cup in 2006 and the EEFA Euro 2012 competitions. Following Ukraine’s exit from the latter competition, Shevchenko announced his retirement from international football.
As soon as he retired, he joined the Ukraine Social Democratic Party. Among the party’s contenders for the Ukrainian parliamentary election, he was listed second. Sadly, his party lost the election’s contest for parliamentary representation.
Shevchenko was chosen in 2016 to serve as Mykhaylo Fomenko’s assistant manager of the Ukrainian national team. He was elevated to the management position the following year when Fomenko was fired as a result of Ukraine’s early exit from Euro 2016.
