The Last King Of Pop, a collection of 23 songs written by Heaton during the course of his career in the Housemartins, The Beautiful South, his solo years, and his partnership with Jacqui Abbott, was published on the Virgin EMI label on November 16, 2018.
The album peaked at No. 10 in the UK Charts and received a Gold certification on January 11, 2019. At three concerts in Sheffield City Hall, Blackpool Empress Ballroom, and London’s Royal Albert Hall, Heaton and Abbott performed the record in its entirety. Paul Heaton’s life and work were the subject of a TV documentary that aired on Channel 4 on December 12th. The documentary featured archival footage and interviews with numerous significant individuals from Heaton’s whole life.
