Robert Owen Edwards, professionally known as Rob Edwards is a professional football manager and former player. He acquired significant fame after he played as a center-back. Also, He is a current manager of the Watford Football Club (FC) under a two-year professional management contract first signed in May 2022. He debuted as a manager in 2019 by quitting the Wolves to be signed by the Premier League to coach the England U20s.

Aston Villa
Rob Edwards sets off his football career as an apprentice with Aston Villa where he worked his way up to his first-team debut on 28th December 2002, in a 1-0 home win over Middlesbrough. He then signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with the club and was transferred on loan to First Division team Crystal Palace in November 2003, where he stayed one month, playing six games and scoring one goal in a 1-1 tie with Coventry City.
In January 2004, he joined fellow First Division team Derby County on loan and played 10 games for the club, scoring a goal in a 2-1 home win over Gillingham on 17th January. Later he was notified by Aston Villa manager David O’Leary that he might leave the club in May 2004.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Rob joined Championship Wolverhampton Wanderers in July 2004 in a three-year agreement where he received more playing time in the 2005-2006 campaign. He played the most of the following season under new manager Mick McCarthy but sustained knee ligament damage in April 2007. On 9th February 2008, he scored his only goal for Wolves in a 4-2 home defeat to Stoke City and was placed on the transfer list in May.
Blackpool
Edwards left Wolves to join Blackpool, signing a two-year contract with an option for a further year for an undisclosed price on 6th August 2008. On 9th August 2008, he made his debut for the Seasiders in a 1-0 home defeat to Bristol City and was captain of the side for the 1-1 draw at Norwich City on 16th August. Rob’s first goal for the “Seasiders” occurred on 29th December 2008 when he scored Blackpool’s second equalizer in a 2-2 draw against his previous club Wolverhampton Wanderers at Bloomfield Road.

Coaching career
Rob confirmed on 11th October 2013 that he had retired from professional football at the age of 30. After that, he became the Under-18s coach at Wolves, and his first season in charge (2014-2015) was rated very successful by the local newspaper “Express & Star”. He was appointed interim head coach at Wolves following the resignation of Walter Zenga on 25th October 2016 He was named as the new manager of his hometown club AFC Telford United on 28th June 2017.
