Former St. Louis reality TV star James “Tim” Norman was sentenced to two life sentences Thursday for orchestrating a plot to kill his nephew that featured fraudulent life insurance policies, cash payouts and years of coverups.
Tim Norman, former Sweetie Pie’s star, learned his fate on Thursday morning after six months of waiting.
Norman was sentenced to life in federal prison for hiring out his nephew, Andre Montgomery Jr., for murder.
In September, a jury deliberated for more than 17 hours before reaching a decision.
Norman was found guilty on all charges, including murder-for-hire conspiracy, murder-for-hire resulting in death, and mail fraud.
Norman and his family are well-known for their appearance on the reality television show “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s” on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Norman was accused of being the mastermind behind his nephew’s death in 2016 in 2020.
According to court documents, Norman purchased a $450,000 life insurance policy on Montgomery in 2014.

Three other people have been charged and pleaded guilty in connection with their roles.
Travell Anthony Hill, 31, was sentenced to 32 years in prison in October 2022 after pleading guilty to his role as the shooter.

Hill admitted in his plea agreement to meeting Montgomery’s uncle, James Timothy Norman, on the day of the murder. Also he stated that he understood Norman’s desire to kill Montgomery.
Additionally, the Waiel Rebhi Yaghnam, Norman’s insurance agent, was sentenced to three years in prison in November 2022. After pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.
Terica Ellis, 39, was sentenced to three years in prison in January 2023.
