His first position was as a radio personality at The Blaze 1330 AM Radio. After that, in January 2010, he started working as a reporter for State Press Television in Tempe, Arizona, for around four months.
Melugin, in a similar manner, completed a number of other minor reporting jobs and internships before securing his first notable position as a reporter and fill-in anchor of KFOX 14 in El Paso, Texas. He began working for the station in January 2013 and spent more than two years developing stories and capturing live news coverage there.
