Elton John  started his career as a weekend pianist at the Northwood Hills Hotel, a local bar. He and his friends founded the Bluesology band in 1962. Major Lance, the Isley Brothers, and Patti LaBelle were among the touring American soul and R&B musicians supported by the band in the mid-1963s. As a result, the band became known as Long John Baldry, and they performed at the Marquee Club 16 times. Elton John rose to prominence after the release of his debut album, Empty Sky, in 1969. The album reached number four on the Billboard 200 in the United States and number five on the UK Albums Chart. In April 1970, he released his second album, Elton John. He released the pop album Don’t Shoot Me, I’m Just the Piano Player, which charted at number one in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia, in 1973.

In October of the same year, he published Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Elton eventually started his own record label, The Rocket Record Company, which he ran from 1974 to 1980. Following that, he released The Fox, which featured Tom Robinson and Judie Tzuke. In 1990, John had his first solo UK number one hit single with “Sacrifice.” He released the album The One in 1992. Elton’s first show was in 2020 at Auckland’s Mount Smart Stadium, but it was cut short due to his early diagnosis of walking pneumonia.
