Antonio Tarver is a well-known former professional boxer from the United States. The boxer later became a boxing commentator. Tarver was a professional boxer for nearly two decades. Antonio Tarver was born Antonio Deon Tarver in Orlando, Florida on November 21, 1968. He is Gwendolyn Tarver’s and her husband’s only child. Antonio began training at a young age and did not receive a formal education. He used the Southpaw Stance to fight. Tarver is six feet two inches tall and weighs 90 kilograms.

Boxing Career

Antonio made his professional debut against Joaquin Garcia in 1997. He won the match by TKO in the second round. Tarver competed in international matches, winning a gold medal in the Pan American Games and the World Championship in the Light Heavyweight division in 1995. Tarver won his first 16 fights, 14 of which were knockouts, before stepping up his competition.

Antonio lost his first professional match against Eric Harding in 2000. He defeated Reggie Johnson for the NABF and USBA light heavyweight titles in 2002. The fighter won the vacant WBC and IBF lightweight heavyweight titles the following year. Tarver fought for the WBA, IBO, and The Ring light heavyweight titles shortly after, but the match against Roy Jones Jr.

Traver rematched and won both the match and the title. However, he lost his IBO and The Ring light heavyweight titles to Glen Johnson in 2004. In a number of fights, the fighter defended his titles. Antonio lost all of his titles to Chad Dawson in 2008. He played in a lot of games over the next few years, and he had some ups and downs.

Traver’s last professional game was in 2015, and it ended in a tie. According to sources, Antonio would make a comeback and fight Frank Mir; however, Steve Cunningham would take his place in the fight.
