How Did Ernie Haase and Lisa Younce Meet?
Well, you see, Ernie Haase’s father-in-law, the late George Younce, bass vocalist for The Cathedrals Quartet, played a significant role in bringing these two together. More specifically, the then-young and aspiring Ernie was a student of Younce, who discovered his mind-blowing talents after seeing him perform at a musical event.
Mr. Younce, who was very impressed by Haase’s singing, didn’t want to miss out on such talents and immediately offered him a spot in his band. Of course, the then-young Ernie couldn’t pass up such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and gladly accepted the offer. If only he had known how drastically the transaction would alter his life.
Their love for music and faith brought Haase and Younce even closer together than a teacher-student relationship with bandmates. Not long after that, George invited Ernie to his home for a meal with his family. That was the start of Ernie and Lisa’s relationship.
Before their wedding, Haase and Younce courted.
And, as George introduced his family to Ernie, he fell to his knees for the first time as he saw Lisa for the first time. After a few meetings and dates, Haase knew he was in love, and Lisa was the girl of his dreams.
But, having fallen in love with his mentor’s daughter, Ernie couldn’t help but question his morals. Ernie, on the other hand, knew his intentions were pure and that he was not lying on the bad lines. And, not long after Ernie and Lisa confessed their love for one another, it was time for the Newburgh native to make the big move.
As you can see, Haase and Younce are both devout Christians. And, before he was ready to take things further with Lisa, the couple bravely but anxiously told George about their relationship.
Mr. Younce was as surprised as he was delighted to hear the news. After all, who would have known Ernie better than George? Younce was well aware of the type of man he was, and he was confident that his daughter would be safe and happy in his care for the rest of her life. To cut a long story short, Ernie and Lisa began dating soon after and married the same year they met.
The couple does not have any children of their own.
To many of their fans, Ernie and his wife led a successful and ideal married life almost three decades later. But, as the saying goes, even candles carry a circle of darkness with them, and life wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows for the Haases.
Lisa, sadly, was unable to bear a child and experience the joys of motherhood for unknown reasons. It is also said that Ernie’s life and music reflect the void of not having a child of their own. But that didn’t mean he didn’t appreciate having his nephew and niece in his life to fill the void. Ernie even composed and performed a lullaby for his precious nephew and niece.
What matters in the grand scheme of things is that these two lovebirds are still going strong and together to this day. Not to mention, the musician is still rocking the mic and touring the world with his band, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, despite being in his mid-fifties.
