Abigail Cruttenden

Every woman deserves a happily ever after. Every girl, sooner or later, will find the love of her life, even if it means going through a string of failed relationships and marriages.

Similarly, actress Abigail Cruttenden went through a divorce before the universe reunited her with the true love of her life, with whom she has been together for nearly two decades. However, before meeting her man, the Richmond-born actress was married to renowned actor Sean Bean.

Sean Bean and Jonathan R. Fraser were married for two years.

There must be fewer people who are unfamiliar with the name Ned Stark, one of the brief-lived protagonists in George R.R. Martin’s classic turned HBO hit television series Game of Thrones. And the role was played by none other than Bean, who is also well-known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and Patriot Games.

And, Cruttenden, best known for her roles in Not Going Out and Jane Eyre, met Bean, a two-time divorcee, in 1993 while working on the set of Sharpe, where she played his on-screen wife, Jane Sharpe, while Sean played Richard Sharpe. Needless to say, Abigail and Sean grew closer and eventually fell in love while working on the project together.

Cruttenden and Bean dated for several years before deciding to marry in November 1997. Bean’s daughters, Lorna and Molly Bean, from his second marriage to Stardust actress Melanie Hill, were bridesmaids at their wedding. Cruttenden was 29 years old, and her groom was 38.

Cruttenden looked stunning in a white bridal plunging gown with a huge lovely flower crown, while Sean looked dashing in a black tuxedo. Not long after their marriage, Jonathan became pregnant with Sean’s child, Evie Bean, who was born on November 6, 1998. Evie was a student at the University of Bristol.

Their marriage, however, was doomed to fail because they divorced when Evie was only a few months old. The divorce of Bean and Cruttenden was finalized in 2000. Bean has married twice since their divorce, with his current relationship being with Ashley Moore.

Abigail, on the other hand, married her current husband for the second time three years after her divorce from Bean.

Jonathan R. Fraser in Cruttenden’s Happily Ever After

Then Cruttenden met her true Prince Charming, Jonathan R. Fraser, the knight in shining armor with whom she married in 2003. Abigail had preferred to keep her personal life extremely private since her divorce from Bean. Clearly, in comparison to Bean, whose relationships are known to the public, the case with Cruttenden does not match.

Cruttenden and her husband Fraser both despise public attention. Not to mention that the Citizen Khan actress has her social media accounts set to private mode. However, the couple has a daughter named Merle Fraser.

Hal Cruttenden’s elder sister; their mother died of a brain tumor.

Many fans are surprised to learn that Cruttenden is the sister of actor and comedian Hal Cruttenden, who is known for his roles in Britain’s long-running soap opera EastEnders and Kavanagh QC.

In addition, unlike his older sister, Hal is fairly active on social media, where he regularly updates his whereabouts. In fact, he is married to Dawn Coulter-Cruttenden, whom he affectionately refers to as Dawnie. They’ve been married for a few decades and have two daughters who helped him come up with the name for one of his shows, Hal Cruttenden Chubster.

Meanwhile, Abigail and her brother were raised by their late mother Julia Cruttenden, who died in 2013 at the age of 74. In January 2012, Mrs. Cruttenden was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, one of the most serious and aggressive types of cancer.

In February 2021, Hal announced that he would walk 100 kilometers across the Sahara deserts in honor of her late mother and to raise awareness and funds for the Brain Tumour Charity, one of the world’s largest brain cancer research institutes.

Julia Cruttenden, who inspired her children to pursue careers in the entertainment industry, was a makeup artist who ran the prestigious Greasepaint Makeup School in London. Her husband, children, and four grandchildren survive her.
