He first took UPSC examinations in 2017, however due to his lack of preparation—only three months—he was unable to pass his preliminary exam. Akshat  therefore made the decision to study for a full year before taking the test.

He was fully prepared when he took the exam in 2018 .Aksat succeeded and earned the second All-India Rank. He received 198 points in the interview round and 882 points in the mains written exam.
