In his junior and senior years, he ran for close to 1,000 yards and scored many touchdowns, helping his team advance to the state playoffs. Collins was a well-known sprinter who won a state championship while competing for his academy’s relay team. For his achievements, he was named the Broward County Male Athlete of the Year.

Collins’ mother created a scene on signing day by refusing to sign his National Letter of Intent for him to attend Arkansas. She preferred that he attend the University of Miami. Bret Bielema, the head coach of Arkansas, solved the issue the next day by mailing a second letter bearing Collins’ father’s inscription. Collins had a successful freshman year while competing for the University of Arkansas from 2013 to 2015.
