Bio of YoungBoy in the NBA:
Kentrell DeSean Gaulden was born on October 20, 1999, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA. His father was sentenced to 55 years in prison, therefore he was raised by his maternal grandmother — his mother’s name is unknown.
YoungBoy fractured his neck as a child and had to wear a head brace until his spine healed. He still has a scar on his forehead from the brace. He dropped out of school in ninth grade to pursue a music career, but was soon arrested for robbery. He did his sentence at a correctional camp in Tallulah, Louisiana, and began writing lyrics for his first mixtape while there.
He went home after being released from detention, but his grandma died of heart failure soon after, forcing him to move in with his buddy and fellow rapper NBA 3Three, also known as OG 3Three. They began stealing and conducting many other criminal crimes in order to pay for the studio.
YoungBoy NBA Bio:
His first mixtape, “Life Before Fame,” was released in 2015 with a microphone he purchased at Walmart, and was followed by several more, including “Mind of a Menace” and “Mind of a Menace 2.” The mixtape “38 Baby,” on which he teamed with Boosie Badazz, Kevin Gates, and others, was his first huge success. Even after he was arrested in Austin, Texas, in 2016 and then detained in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, for attempted first-degree murder, his career did not suffer. He released two mixtapes while incarcerated: “Before I Go: Reloaded” and “Mind of a Menace 3: Reloaded.”
He was only in jail for eight months before being freed on a suspended 10-year sentence and three months of probation after agreeing to a plea deal and posting bail. He continued to boost his career after the release of his single “Untouchable” a week later. His mixtape “A.I. YoungBoy” was released in August 2017 and debuted at No. 24 on the Billboard 200 chart.
YoungBoy NBA signed a deal with Atlantic Records as his career flourished, and his debut studio album was released on April 27, 2018. The album charted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and No. 5 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart in the United States, and it was certified platinum.
This catapulted him to fame, and he continued to work on new music in 2018, releasing three mixtapes before announcing the release of his second studio album, “Still Flexin, Still Steppin” and “38 Baby 2,” the latter of which topped the US Billboard 200 chart. On September 11th, 2020, he will release his second studio album, “Top.”
