Alexander Godunov

Alexander Godunov alias Sasha, a late Russian-American actor and ballet dancer, is most known for his roles in Die Hard (1988), Witness (1985), and The Money Pit (1986). He was born on the Russian island of Sakhalin on November 28, 1949. Boris Godunov and Lidia Nicholaevna Studentova were his parents.

On May 18, 1995, Godunov died of hepatitis induced by heavy drunkenness at the age of 45. Concerned by his silence during a phone call, one of his pals sends a nurse to his residence. His body was located in West Hollywood, California, and it was estimated that he had been deceased for a few days.

His mother, brother, and nephew, all of whom were from Latvia, were unable to attend his funeral. Alexander’s ashes were scattered in the Pacific Ocean, and a gravestone with the epitaph may be found at Gates Mortuary in Los Angeles.

Godunov was previously married to Lyudmila Vlasova, a ballet dancer and actress from the Soviet Union. In 1971, the former lovebird married in a lavish wedding ceremony. Despite sharing passionate memories during their marriage, the ex-couple was unable to produce a child together.

The couple broke up in 1979, when Vlasova returned to the Soviet Union due to political conflicts, as she felt uncomfortable being in the United States as a Russian. Later, in 1982, the couple divorced.

Sasha was also well-known for his romance with Jacqueline Bisset, an English actress. In 1981, the two initially met at a gathering in New York City, New York. After several meetings, the couple began dating and remained together for seven years, until they divorced in 1988.

Because of his admiration for American culture, Godunov was labeled a defector. After his tour with Miss Plisetskaya in 1974, he was denied permission to leave the Soviet Union.

He was free to tour with the Bolshoi Ballet in New York City, United States, after a few years.

The incident was later filmed as a Flight 222 incident (1987).
