Alexander McQueen’s Death Cause

McQueen’s housekeeper discovered him hanging at his Green Street, London W1 flat on February 11, 2010.

After paramedics came, he was pronounced dead on the scene. The note from McQueen said, “Look after my dogs, sorry, I love you, Lee.” According to the Metropolitan Police, the note was not suspicious, although the death was not ruled a suicide.

McQueen died as a result of asphyxiation and hanging, according to a post-mortem investigation performed at Westminster Coroner’s Court on February 17, 2010.

The autopsy was rescheduled for April 28, 2010, after his death was determined to be a suicide. On February 25, 2010, McQueen’s funeral was place at St. Paul’s Church in Knightsbridge, West London.

His ashes were later scattered at Kilmuir on Skye. McQueen’s memorial service was held at St. Paul’s Cathedral on September 20, 2010. A total of 2,500 persons attended.
