Biography:

Alyssa is a soccer player from Studio City, California, who has a multicultural background. She attended The Wesley School while growing up in Los Angeles. One of her younger sisters, who plays soccer for the US under-17 national team, is one of her two younger sisters.

After initially deciding to attend Stanford University for the 2023 season, she changed her mind and entered the 2023 NWSL Draft. She was given to Angel City FC as the first overall pick in a three-team deal, making her the most expensive participant in league history. She signed a contract with Angel City FC for three years.

Career:

Alyssa made her professional debut for Angel City FC against Club América, where she scored her first goal. In her NWSL debut, she not only scored but also lost to NJ/NY Gotham FC. For her efforts in March–April 2023, Thompson received the NWSL Rookie of the Month award, and she added another goal in a victory over Kansas City Current. She also contributed to Sydney Leroux’s first goal after recovering from an ankle injury.
