Early Years and Bio

On March 27, 2004, Amira Willighagen was born in Nijmegen, Netherlands. She is 18 years old, and according to her birth date, she is a Dutch national. She is also of mixed ethnicity and bears the Aries birth sign. Her parents are Frieda(mother) and Gerrit Willighagen (father).

She also shared a childhood with her brother, Fincent Willighagen. When she was seven years old, she first heard Luciano Pavarotti perform the aria “Nessun Dorma” while on vacation in England. She saw their father Gerrit playing the piano, their mother Frieda playing the violin, and her brother Fincent playing the violin during that time. She tried vocal singing because she was unable to play any instruments.

Amira also studied opera arias on her own before starting vocal lessons by using YouTube instructions. She learned to sing as a result, which sparked her enthusiasm. When her mother first heard her singing, she was astounded. In support of her family, she made her first public performances in 2012 at the Colmschate “Music creates Friends” festival and in a solo performance with the Emmaus Children’s Choir in which she sang “Nella Fantasia” in Dutch. Regarding her academic history, she hasn’t yet disclosed her current academic degree.

Holland’s Got Talent

After two years of practice and performance enhancement, Amira Willighagen was prepared to participate in Holland’s Got Talent. In fact, she astonished the panel with her rendition of “O Mio Babbino Caro” from Gianni Schicchi by Puccini. Her YouTube performance became viral very quickly, garnering over 43 million views as of August 2022. With more than half of the audience and TV viewers’ votes, she prevailed in the competition.

International debut and Charity

During the 2014 spring break, she makes her international debut at the Vergelegen wine estate’s Starlight Classics Concerts. (South Africa’s Cape Town vicinity). The first playground for kids was built in the township of Ikageng, which is adjacent to Potchefstroom, where a family on her mother’s side originates from, as a result of her charitable work, for which she also donated half of her earnings. Amira’s nonprofit, Gelukskinders, is established later that year to help her charitable endeavors.

Debut album and collaborations

On March 22, 2014, Amira’s debut album, Amira, was published. Three weeks later, Amira receives a Golden Record for selling the first 10,000 copies of her album. In the summer of 2015, she recorded Merry Christmas, which is released on November 21st of the same year. She has also given performances in several nations, including the USA, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Hong Kong, Argentina, Malta, Monaco, South Africa, Iceland, the Netherlands, the UK, and Belgium, to name a few.

During performances, she frequently works with well-known local and foreign performers, such as the British tenor Paul Potts, the Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieu, the Icelandic tenor Gissur Páll Gissurarson, the 2010 SA’s Got Talent winner James Bhemgee, the Kwazulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Italian singer/entertainer Patrizio Buanne.

Other Songs

Two new CDs by Amira have been made available: Merry Christmas (2015) and With All My Heart (2018). Additionally, she may be found on the albums Afrikaans is Groot (2016) and Classics is Groot (2016-2017-2018), the latter of which can be purchased directly from Amira’s Stichting Gelukskinders. She additionally relocated to South Africa on January 1st, 2018. After some time adjusting to her new living situation and school, she is now back to her regular pastimes like singing and sports.

In remembrance of the composer Ennio Morricone, she released three music videos: “Cinema Paradiso (Se)” from the movie of the same name, “Ave Maria (Vavilov)” from the album Merry Christmas, and “In The Stars” from the album With All My Heart. Her most popular YouTube video is one of André Rieu’s performances in Maastricht (July 2014).

The four-DVD set Five Years Gelukskinders, which featured footage from the anniversary performances in Turnhout (December 2019), backstage photos, and a documentary on the Gelukskinders Foundation, was released in the middle of July 2020. (playgrounds openings and the concert given at the Tshupane school, with Siki Jo-An and school choirs). On May 14, 2022, the internet program Diversity is Phenomenal premiered. Amira produced a music video for the program that includes a brand-new tune from Beauty and the Beast.

Awards

2013’s Holland’s Got Talent sixth season champion was this singer. Amira was named “International Mediterranean Best Female Opera Star 2019” on November 9, 2019, according to her Facebook profile.
