Ms. Newmark has had a successful 30-year career in finance and telecommunications as a writer, lecturer, financial analyst, and business leader. She worked as a Managing Director at CJ Lawrence and was a top-ranked telecom analyst.

She founded a hedge fund specializing in telecommunications and technology firms in 1993, and in 1995, she joined the founding management team of Winstar Communications, Inc. as Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning. As a college senior, Ms. Newmark began her commercial career by writing a magazine about telecom equipment sales prospects in Brazil. This rekindled interest in the telecommunications industry. She went on to work as a telecoms consultant before landing a job at Gartner Group, where she published many telecoms books and oversaw the telecommunications services business.

She moved to Wall Street in 1981. However she spent several years writing and lecturing on telecommunications and information services, as well as offering her stock picks and pans to mutual fund and hedge fund clients. Also she most recently worked as a publisher, author, and editor for Chicken Soup for the Soul, one of the most popular book sequels of all time.

Additionally she earned a bachelor’s degree in 1979 from Harvard University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Ms. Newmark studied Portuguese and French and received a summa cum laude for her thesis on popular poetry in Brazil.
