He also created and led a new Stanford course, “Convolutional Neural Networks for Visual Recognition” (CS231n). Stanford’s first Deep Learning course grew to 750 registrants in 2017.

Between 2015 and 2017, he was a key member of OpenAI, an artificial intelligence research group, as a research scientist. In June 2017, he joined Tesla to manage the AI section.
