Andrew Tate Reportedly Arrested in Romania in Rape Investigation the Day After Posting Greta Thunberg Clapback Video
Andrew Tate, a controversial media personality and former professional kickboxer, was reportedly detained by anti-terrorism officials in Romania. According to the Romanian publication Libertatea, he and his brother, Tristan Tate, were jailed on accusations of organizing an organized crime gang that exploits girls for sexual videos.
Andrew and Tristan Tate are being investigated for human trafficking and rape and are expected to be questioned by the DIICOT (Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism). In a statement, DIICOT confirmed the raid but did not name the individuals. The brothers’ lawyer confirmed their detention to Reuters.
The British brothers’ names have been entered into a criminal file. A former policewoman was also searched and questioned for her potential participation in the case, according to Romanian news channel Antena 3 CNN.
Prosecutors in Romania are apparently convinced that the Tates are recruiting and exploiting women in order to create pornographic videos to resell on platforms like OnlyFans.

In April, Romanian officials apprehended two young women (one of whom had American citizenship) near a property in Voluntari. Who claimed the Tates were holding them against their will. According to Libertatea, the brothers were questioned at DIICOT for five hours before being freed. But the investigation is still ongoing.
Andrew Tate, a 19-year-old climate activist, tagged Greta Thunberg in a tweet earlier this week, bragging about his 33 automobiles. “Please supply your email address so that I may send a detailed list of my automobile collection and their respective massive emissions,” he wrote, to which Thunberg responded, “Yes, please do enlighten me. Please contact me at [email protected].”
With nearly 3 million likes, the message rapidly became one of the most-liked tweets of all time.
Tate responded to Thunberg on Wednesday with a video in which he consumes pizza from a box labeled “Jerry’s Pizza,” a Romanian restaurant brand.
Tate rose to prominence in 2016 as a guest on the British reality show “Big Brother,”. Where he garnered condemnation for homophobic and racist tweets. He was fired off the show when a video leaked. And that appeared to show him striking a woman with a belt. Tate and the woman both stated that their acts were mutual.
Tate’s Twitter ban was lifted by Elon Musk a month ago.
The Tate brothers launched a webcam business selling “fabricated sob tales” to male callers. Andrew claims he made millions of dollars from the scheme, which he later conceded was a “complete hoax.”
