Music Career Andrew W.K. begins his musical career by playing in several local bands in the middle of the 1990s. Subsequently, he relocates to New York, where he produces his first records under the name Andrew W.K., and at the age of 14, he joins the band Slam, later known as Reverse Polarity. W.K.’s song “Mr. Surprise” was featured on “Plant the Flower Seeds” in 1996, and in 1998 he relocated from Michigan to New York City, where he worked as a fashion photographer, opera ticket salesman, bubblegum machine salesman, and other temporary occupations. After finishing the AAB project, he started working on new solo songs under the full name “Andrew Wilkes-Krier.” Hanson Records released the cassette-only single “Room to Breathe” the same year.
Additionally, he collaborated with Aaron Dilloway to create the soundtrack for the independent film “Poltergeist,” from which one tune was included on the Hanson Records collection “Labyrinths & Jokes.” It was his first solo release as Andrew W.K. when he put out his first EP, “Girls Own Juice,” also known as “AWKGOJ,” on Bulb Records in March 2000. Following the release of “Girls Own Juice,” another Bulb Records EP called “Party Til You Puke” in October 2000, Andrew amicably parted ways with Bulb Records to sign with Island Records. In March 2006, W.K. presented a brand-new song called “I’m a Vagabond,” then on November 26, 2008, he published his fourth studio album, “The Japan Covers.” “55 Cadillac,” his fifth studio album, was the label’s second release. On September 9, W.K. published the album “Gundam Rock,” which was only available in Japan. In March 2011, he also released a new EP called “The “Party All Goddamn Night” EP.” W.K. stated in September 2017 that a new studio album would be released on March 2, 2018, through Sony Music.
