Family Details & Early Life

On August 28, 1994, Anna was born in McIntyre, Georgia. She is the oldest of Jessica, Lauryn, Alana, and their two younger sisters. When she was young, her parents separated, and in 2013, her mother wed Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson. When Anna turned 18, she left the family home because she did not get along with her stepfather.

Trauma and abuse ruined Anna’s early years. She was sexually assaulted by Mark McDaniel, her mother’s boyfriend at the time, when she was eight years old. Later, he was found guilty of severe child molestation and given a 10-year prison term.

Diagnosed With Cancer

Adrenal carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that attacks the outer layer of the adrenal gland, has been identified in stage 4 in Anna Cardwell, the eldest child of reality television personality June Shannon (commonly known as Mama June). After experiencing stomach problems and having tests that proved she had malignant cells in her lungs, kidneys, and liver, she made her condition public in March 2023.

After completing four rounds of chemotherapy since then, her mother has declared that the girl’s cancer is terminal and that she will not experience remission. Shannon called the scenario a “emotional roller coaster” and said the family has come to terms with the bleak outlook. She claimed that for her age, Kaitlyn is extremely mature and close to her mother. Kylee is too little, according to her, to understand what is going on. Kaitlyn, according to Shannon, never leaves Cardwell’s side and worries whenever she leaves.

Throughout Cardwell’s struggle with cancer, the family has been encouraging. Due to Shannon’s drug use and involvement with a convicted sex offender, she was alienated from her daughter for years before finally reconciling with her in February 2023.
