Health Concerns

Stage 4 adrenal carcinoma, a rare and deadly type of cancer that attacks the adrenal gland, was identified as Anna’s condition in January 2023. Despite undergoing four sessions of chemo, she was informed that her cancer is terminal and that she only has a limited amount of time left to live. In March 2023, she broke the devastating news to the public and was consoled by her loved ones and supporters.

Anna Cardwell has been working to maximize her time spent with her loved ones and cross off items on her bucket list. She has also thought about complementary therapies like immunotherapy and clinical trials. She stated that she hopes for a miracle and intends to fight as long as she can.

Diagnosed With Cancer

Adrenal carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that attacks the outer layer of the adrenal gland, has been identified in stage 4 in Anna Cardwell, the eldest child of reality television personality June Shannon (commonly known as Mama June). After experiencing stomach problems and having tests that proved she had malignant cells in her lungs, kidneys, and liver, she made her condition public in March 2023.

After completing four rounds of chemotherapy since then, her mother has declared that the girl’s cancer is terminal and that she will not experience remission. Shannon called the scenario a “emotional roller coaster” and said the family has come to terms with the bleak outlook. She added that because the disease is unpredictable and rapidly expanding, they are unsure of what to expect to happen next.

More on her Health Issue

The next steps for Anna Cardwell include immunotherapy and clinical studies, but she may also decide to live out her remaining days as fully as possible. Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, Cardwell’s sister, reports that she is “doing pretty good” and handling the news well. She said that Cardwell is still capable of carrying out daily tasks including driving, going to the store, and caring for her children, Kaitlyn, 10, and Kylee, 7. She did add, though, that the chemotherapy had caused Cardwell to lose her hair, brows, and body hair.

Efird also discussed the way Cardwell’s children are handling their mother’s illness. She claimed that while Kaitlyn is aware of the situation, she is not entirely aware of it. She claimed that for her age, Kaitlyn is extremely mature and close to her mother. Kylee is too little, according to her, to understand what is going on. Kaitlyn, according to Shannon, never leaves Cardwell’s side and worries whenever she leaves.

Throughout Cardwell’s struggle with cancer, the family has been encouraging. Due to Shannon’s drug use and involvement with a convicted sex offender, she was alienated from her daughter for years before finally reconciling with her in February 2023. Cardwell’s second chemotherapy session was attended by Shannon, who expressed her admiration for Cardwell’s courage. Cardwell has also been supported by Efird and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, who have both publicly professed their affection for her on social media.

Since posting a joyful selfie with a bald head on Instagram in April 2023, Anna Cardwell has not provided any updates on her health. She wrote: “I’m still here fighting.” as the caption.
