Arthel Neville’s Early life

Arthel Neville was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 20, 1962, to her father Art Neville, the creator of the New Orleans music group The Meters as well as The Neville Brothers. She is a citizen of the United States.

Arthel went to New Orleans’ St. Mary’s Dominican High School. She opted to move to New York after graduation to pursue a career in performing and modeling. After that, Arthel appeared in a few commercials before landing a recurring part on Days of Our Lives.

Professional Life

While still a student at the University of Texas, Austin School of Journalism, Neville worked as a general assignment reporter for KVUE-TV. She is known for becoming KVUE-first TV’s female African American on-air reporter.

She then went on to discuss a variety of societal topics. Arthel’s first job after college was as a reporter/anchor for WWL in New Orleans. In 1988, Arthel returned to Texas and worked as a reporter for KHOU-TV in Houston. She returned to New Orleans to work as an anchor/reporter for WVUE.

In 1991, Arthel was chosen as the host of Extreme Close-Up. Arthel charted over 200 interviews with Hollywood celebs like Will Smith, Tom Cruise, and Sharon Stone during her three years on the show, becoming the country’s first high-profile black female entertainment reporter.

Neville is known for co-hosting Fox’s Good Day Live show. She also rose to the position of lead anchor for Fox 5 Morning News. In June 2010, Arthel joined Fox News Channel as a news anchor on America’s Newsroom, America’s News Headquarters, and Happening Now, as well as a contributor on The O’Reilly Factor and Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld.

In addition, she joined America Live with Megyn Kelly as a fill-in anchor. She is presently the weekend anchor for Fox News Channel’s America’s News Headquarters newscasts on Saturday and Sunday.

In 2017, Neville was the first African American woman to receive the DeWitt Carter Reddick journalism prize from Moody College of Communication.

On April 22, 1995, Arthel married Derrick Lassic. However, they split up soon after and divorced in 1998. In 2001, she married Taku Hirano, a percussionist and recording artist from Japan. They are in a happy relationship. There are no children in the family.
