On November 8, 2001, Avani Lekhara was born into a Hindu household in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Scorpio is her astrological sign. She finished her schooling at a private college in her native country. Lekhara is currently pursuing further education at an unidentified university.

Avani’s father advised she give shooting and archery a try. Holding the weapon, though, gave her a greater sense of security and confidence. Her professional parachutist career was established as a result.

She finds Abhinav Bindra to be inspirational after reading his autobiography. After barely a year of training, she won the bronze medal for the country at the National Championship. She has gained a lot of confidence and has better coaches now. Currently, Suma Siddharth Shirur is her coach.

She has taken part in a number of parashooting tournaments, including the World Championships and World Cups. She placed tenth with a score of 1130, however, at the 2018 Para Shooting World Championships. With a score of 244, she nevertheless took home a silver medal in the 2018 World Cup.

Avani Lekhara made an outstanding performance at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo. She helped India win the gold medal in the 10m air rifle competition. She became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at the Paralympics because to this achievement. Her total at the Paralympics also tied the world record and set a Paralympic record.
