Manchester City

Ben Mee signed his first professional contract with Manchester City in September 2007, where he captained the City team that won the 2007–2008 FA Youth Cup, to begin his football career. He then agreed to a new two-year contract in February 2009, which would keep him with City through June 2011. When he was included in City’s 2010 summer tour of the US, he received his first significant test of first-team experience. He continued his tour appearances by starting against West Bromwich Albion in the League Cup on September 22, 2010, a match they lost 2-1.

On January 1, 2011, he also signed for Championship team Leicester City, where he would later join Greg Cunningham, a colleague from Manchester City. He made his Leicester City debut in a 4-2 victory over Millwall and gave Miguel Vtor his first career assist in the match against Scunthorpe United on March 12, 2011, which Leicester City won 3-0. Vtor went on to score twice in that game. Mee served as Jeffrey Bruma’s second assist in a 4-2 victory over Watford on April 25, 2011, and he then returned to Manchester City after spending six months at Leicester following the 2010–2011 season.

Burnley

On July 14, 2011, Ben signed a season-long loan agreement with Burnley. Also, On August 6, 2011, he played the whole 90 minutes of Burnley’s 2-2 draw with Watford, marking his league debut. On November 29, he recorded his first shutout for Burnley in a 4-0 victory over Ipswich Town. His season was cut short, however, when he suffered a minor back fracture while playing in a 5-1 victory over Portsmouth. His season was over after 31 appearances.

Later, he begins his 2012–2013 campaign. He had a spotty early appearance until scoring his first goal for the team on September 28, 2012, in a 2-2 tie with Millwall. He regrettably sustained a knee injury during the Lancashire derby, which sidelined him for many weeks. Nine days before Olive was due, Sarah was transported to the delivery suite at St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester. Mee recalled the experience as being “quite a scary time.” “We had several tough conversations and phone calls with the doctor. Fortunately, we were able to get by that week. The 24 week period was a critical time period for the likelihood of survival. Even having that extra week had a significant increase.”
