She grew up in Carmel before moving to Los Angeles when she was about ten years old. When Brosmer arrived in Los Angeles, he was asked to pose for Alberto Vargas and Earl Moran, two of the most well-known pin-up painters of the day. In 1950, her aunt persuaded her to return to New York City, and the two of them made their home there. Brosmer built her photographic portfolio while attending George Washington High School in Manhattan. Brosmer worked as a commercial model for the next four years, appearing on the covers of many of the ubiquitous postwar “pulps,” or popular romance and crime periodicals and novels. She confessed, “When I was 15, I got done up to seem like I was about 25.”

She also worked as a model, and in 1954, she posed for Christian Dior. After she married, Brosmer ceased appearing as a pin-up, but she was still shot frequently. For many years, she was featured in Weider periodicals, advertising a variety of fitness products.
