Wikimedia Commons has a biography of Bill O’Reilly
On September 10, 1949, he was born in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New York. He began his broadcasting career at WNEP-TV in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he worked as a reporter and anchor. Bill is a prolific novelist in addition to his work on television and radio. Bill has written over 15 novels since 1998, many of which have reached the top of the New York Times bestseller list.
In the first three months after its release in 2006, his book “Culture Warrior” sold one million print copies. Bill was married to Maureen Mcphilmy, a public relations executive, from 1996 until their divorce in 2010. In 2011, their divorce was finalized. They have a daughter and a son together, and they both live in the posh Manhasset suburb on Long Island. The New York Times reported in April 2017 that Bill O’Reilly and Fox had paid $13 million to resolve multiple sexual harassment complaints filed against the anchor. One of the settlements was for $9 million.
The O’Reilly Factor is a television show hosted by Bill O’Reilly
The O’Reilly Factor, originally known as The O’Reilly Report on Fox News Channel, premiered in 1996 as the cornerstone of political commentary talk shows. The name was altered due to the show’s host, Bill O’Reilly, who is lovingly – and ironically – referred to as “Papa Bear” by talk show host Stephen Colbertt, and his proclivity for making news simply by expressing his opinion. To put it another way, being a “component” that counts.
The one-hour show, which is taped at a Fox News studio in New York City, follows a tried-and-true structure that its viewers enjoy. The show’s format is based on “portions,” which are thematic segments that have the same structure each night. Although not all segments are shown, the general flow of the presentation — where the segments may or may not occur – remains consistent.
Following college, O’Reilly worked as a journalist for a number of Boston-area publications. He began his career as a news reporter for minor market stations such as WNEP in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and KATU in Portland, Oregon, like many other talk show hosts. His success in these tiny towns led him to WCBS in New York, where he was the anchor of an early evening feature news program.
Career in Television
He eventually got a job with CBS News as a correspondent, covering the wars in El Salvador and the Falkland Islands. O’Reilly moved to ABC after a disagreement with CBS. He worked as a reporter for ABC News’ Good Morning America, ABC News’ Nightline, and ABC News’ World News Tonight.
Then, in 1989, O’Reilly became a reporter for Inside Edition, a news/tabloid magazine published by King World, which is now CBS Television. When Inside Edition let initial anchor David Frost go after only three weeks on the show, he was promoted to news anchor.
