30 Days Without Alcohol

Bree published a blog post on December 6, 2018, in which she discussed her experience after taking 30 days off from drinking. She took a month off drinking for two reasons. The first was about her physical health, as she suffers from IBS, and alcohol is a major irritant for her.

The second reason has to do with her mental health. Bree has gone two weeks without consuming an alcoholic beverage since reaching the legal drinking age. That was in 2017, following the wild-open-bar-10-days-straight-TIFF-partying craziness. Bree agreed to a one-month commitment but caved after only two weeks!

Prior to that, her longest period without alcohol was ten days. It was when she got a nasty respiratory infection that she couldn’t get rid of. Similarly, Bree has been in a number of relationships in which alcohol has played a significant role.

Bree didn’t realize how deeply ingrained alcohol was in her previous relationships until she met Bryan. Despite the fact that he enjoys a drink now and then, Bree was taken aback when the two began dating. They were sober for 75% of the time they spent together. Bree was taken aback by the realization.

She had a first date where she didn’t go home tipsy, feeling the warm fuzzies but not sure if it was because of all the wine or because you actually liked the guy. Her relationship with Bryan completely altered her relationship with alcohol.

Not requiring alcohol to relax enough to fully express oneself or to feel confident in an unfamiliar setting with new people. All of this happened after meeting Bryan and falling in love with him.
