Buffer began his martial arts career when he was thirteen years old and living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he studied judo and earned the rank of green belt. At the age of fifteen, he moved to Malibu, California with his family and befriended two of Chuck Norris’ students, who introduced him to Tang Soo Do, of which he holds a second-degree black belt.
He began kickboxing in his twenties but was forced to stop when he was 32 due to his second concussion. When their birth father contacted Michael after seeing him on television, Bruce was introduced to his half-brother, Michael Buffer.
Michael Buffer hired Bruce as his agent/manager in the 1990s. The brothers’ business has grown through licensing and appearances through their joint venture, The Buffer Partnership.
