Bryan Cristante was born and raised in the nearby town of San Giovanni di Casarsa, where he first started playing football. He later switched to Liventina Gorghense, a local amateur team in the Treviso area, before joining AC Milan in 2009. He participated in the 2010 Campionato Giovanissimi Nazionali winning under-15 team and contributed eight goals to that squad.

On December 12, in a 0-5 Primeira Liga victory over Vitória Setubal, he made his professional debut. He got his first goal for the group on January 14 in a 4-0 victory over Arouca in the league cup’s third round. He later made a loan move from Benfica to Atalanta in January 2017. Benfica held 15% of his economic rights, and Atalanta paid the €4 million release clause in the summer of 2018 for a total of €9.5 million.

He scored his first goal for the national team on October 7, 2020, the opening strike in a 6-0 friendly win against Moldova at home. Roberto Mancini added him to Italy’s roster for the UEFA Euro 2020 in June 2021. In the second half of regulation time during the final, he came on as a substitute for Nicol Barella, and he assisted Italy in scoring the equalizer by setting up Leonardo Bonucci’s goal from a corner kick.
