Brynn Thayer was born on October 4, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, USA, to William Paul Thayer, a US Navy commander and business executive, and his wife Margery. During the Reagan administration, her father was also a Deputy Secretary of Defense; he died in 2010.

Brynn attended the Beverly Hills Playhouse acting school, and her career began in the late 1970s with the successful part of Jenny Wolek in the serial opera “One Life to Live,” where she stayed for seven years and starred in 51 episodes. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Supporting Role in a Daytime Drama Series and a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Actress in a Leading Role in a Daytime Serial, but the real prize eluded her.
She auditioned for other roles when her stay ended, and before the ’80s ended, she appeared in the television movies “Tonight’s the Night” and “Ghost of a Chance,” both in 1987. She has been married to writer and producer David Steinberg since 1994, however, they have no children. David is a famous producer and writer best known for his work on the TV series “Music Scene” (1969-1970), “Designing Women” (1992-1993), and the film “The Greatest Game Ever Played” (2005), among many other projects. His most recent project is the television series “Ca$h Cab” (2017).
Brynn, along with actor Michael Zaslow and his wife, Susan Hufford, founded the philanthropic foundation ZazAngels. The organization’s primary goal is to raise cash for ALS research. Zaslow died in December 1998 as a result of ALS complications.
