The WWE tag team The Revival experienced a range of successes and setbacks during the course of their career. They defeated The New Day and Roman Reigns, but they also received injuries and failed. Wheeler engaged in conflict with Lucha House Party and asked WWE to let them go. They eventually took home the Raw Tag Team Championships, but Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder ultimately defeated them at WrestleMania 35. Shortly after, they failed the 24/7 Title back to R-Truth. Wheeler appeared on AEW TV for two months despite not being covered by the contract before concluding multi-year contracts with the business in July 2020. They explained in a consultation that they rejected a rich offer from WWE because they thought their time there had come to an end and that they were continuously drawn from the main roster events.
