Heisser went on to make a name for himself as a Motorcross rider. He began constructing a bike with his bare hands, replacing and combining various parts. Heisser and his friends altered the stock Hondo Frame by cutting and welding up the rake, lowering the motor, adjusting the shock mount position, and lowering the trial.

He was a hard-core racer who raced for most of his life before retiring in 1984. Heisser chose to become a real estate agent after his racing career ended. He established Hamerkop Homes Incorporation, a real estate firm.

Heisser is best known as the boyfriend of actress Heather Locklear, who appeared in the films Melrose Place and Dynasty. She had previously been in a three-year relationship with plastic surgeon doctor Marc Mani, and after their breakup, she began dating Heisser.

Heather was arrested on February 25, 2018, for domestic violence against her boyfriend Heisser. According to the reports, she was viciously attacking him and even left a mark on his body. When the cops tried to restrain her, she attacked one of them by kicking him, which is a serious offense.
