Donald Freeland (father) and Halyna Chomiak (mother) gave birth to her (mother). Natalka, Freeland’s younger sister, is her only sibling. Wilbur Freeland, Chrystia’s paternal grandfather, was a lawyer, and Helen Caulfield, her grandmother, was a WWII war bride. Michael Chomiak, her maternal grandfather, was a journalist before WWII.
