Cindy Williams, best known for playing Shirley in ‘Laverne & Shirley,’ has died at 75.

Williams died peacefully in Los Angeles on Wednesday after a brief illness, according to her family.

Cindy Williams, best known for her role in the TV sitcom “Laverne & Shirley” died at the age of 75, her family announced Monday.

Williams died peacefully at her home in Los Angeles on Wednesday after a brief illness, according to a statement released by family spokesperson Liza Cranis.

“The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed,” they said in a statement.

“Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege,” according to the statement. “She was one of a kind, beautiful, generous and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a glittering spirit that everyone loved.”

Williams starred in the popular “Laverne & Shirley” series from 1976 to 1983 as Shirley Feeney, opposite Penny Marshall as Laverne DeFazio.

A spinoff of “Happy Days,” “Laverne & Shirley,” starred Williams and Marshall as roommates working in a Milwaukee bottling plant. Williams’ character was the more formal of the two.

Marshall died in 2018 at the age of 75.

Williams also appeared in the films “American Graffiti” (1973) and “The Conversation” (1974).

“Laverne & Shirley,” like “Happy Days,” was created by Penny Marshall’s brother, Garry Marshall. With his assistance, Penny Marshall landed her breakthrough role in the mid-1970s.

In its prime, the show was one of the most popular on television. Garry Marshall passed away in 2016.

Williams was born in Van Nuys, California, in the San Fernando Valley.

Emily and Zak were her two children. They claimed that their mother was devote to animal rescue and her faith, and that she wished for the world to laugh.

“May that laughter continue in everyone, because she would want that,” they said in a statement. “Thank you for loving our Mom, she loved you too.”
