Colt Cabana | Lawsuit Controversies

WWE Dr. Christopher Amann filed a lawsuit against Colton and Phillip Brooks in February 2015.

CM Punk was invited to discuss his career in one of Cabana’s podcast episodes during that time.

CM Punk revealed his reasons for leaving WWE during their conversation. One of the reasons cited was the medical personnel who treated his injuries. Punk complained about how the wrestlers were treated by the staff.

As a result of their comments on the podcast, ringside physician Dr. Christopher Amann filed a defamation lawsuit.

According to the lawsuit, the podcast was streamed over 1 million times on YouTube and over 10,000 times on SoundCloud, and that wide reach had harmed his reputation.

Amann sought compensation in the amount of $4 million (£3.38 million), plus an undisclosed sum for punitive damages.

Later that year, the case was tried to a jury, and Cabana and Punk won because the jury ruled in their favor.

In the same year, Colt Cabana filed a lawsuit against his former best friend CM Punk, alleging breach of contract and fraud.

Cabana claimed that Punk refused to pay his share of the legal fees associated with the Amann suit.

Cabana demanded that Punk pay him $200,000 in damages and an additional $1 million (£844,310) in punitive damages. Punk then filed a counterclaim for $600,000 (£506,586) in damages and attorney fees.

In total, their lawsuit was dismissed in 2019, and neither of them received financial compensation.
