Cynthia began her journalism career with KTAB-TV in Abilene. She only lasted eight months at the following network. She also worked at KLTV for a brief period of time.

Cynthia then worked as a reporter for KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was elevated to weekend anchor in a short period and eventually featured on the 5, 6, and 10 p.m. news. Cynthia also stayed in Mexico for a few years before receiving the call that launched her career.
“She stated,” she said.
“I spent eight years in Albuquerque building up my resume in the hopes of landing the ultimate job that I had aspired to since seventh grade, which was to work for WFAA-TV,” she says.
Cynthia continued,
“And sure enough, after 10 years in the profession, I’ll never forget the phone call from Michael Valentine, the news director at the time.”
Cynthia’s talent impressed Valentine, and he offered her a job if she wanted to return. She said “Yes” without hesitation and began working at WFAA-TV in 2008. Cynthia has since become one of the most well-known news reporters in the United States.
