Biography
Avidan was born Leigh Daniel Avidan on March 14th, 1979, in Springfield, New Jersey. His father was born in Israel and later immigrated to the United States, where he met and married Avidan’s mother. His granddad was a member of the team that pioneered the use of body electrodes. Avidan graduated from high school in 1997 and went on to Boston University to study advertising. He dropped out of the course, however, and went on to study Botany in France as part of the University Exchange Program.

Avidan noticed an ad on Craigslist in late 2003 for the formation of an Indie rock band called The Northern Hues, based in Philadelphia. He was the lead singer and songwriter for this rock group. In 2006, he joined Skyhill, a rock band that also disbanded in 2008 owing to creative differences.
