Dan Blocker was born on December 10, 1928, to Ora “Shack” Blocker and Mary Arizona Blocker in De Kalb, Bowe County, Texas. He was raised as a Free Methodist in Texas. In San Antonio, Texas, the USA, he attended Texas Military Institute. For Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, which is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, Dan played football.
