Danny Cipriani began his professional career by enrolling in the Wasps Academy in 2003. Prior to beginning to make more frequent appearances for the first team in 2007, when Wasps won the 2007 Heineken Cup Final, he first played for the Wasps under-21 team and Wasps A team.

On October 6, 2008, he got into a brawl on the practice field with club and international teammate Josh Lewsey, but on May 18, 2009, when playing for Wasps against Bat in the semi-final play-off, he fractured and dislocated his right ankle. In the Rebels’ second Super Rugby match against the Brumbies, Cipriani scored the team’s first points with a penalty kick. After failing to live up to the standards established by the Rebel players’ group, he and teammate Richard Kingi were stood down for the match against the Queensland Reds in May. Later, he was not included in the Rebels team selected for the travel to South Africa for two games. Danny’s 2011 campaign received criticism for his subpar defense.

Later, he was selected for the England rugby union team’s 2014 tour of New Zealand, playing in the first and third tests off the bench.
