Daniel Mark Pudi[3] was born in Chicago on March 10, 1979, the son of Teresa (née Komendant) and the late Abraham L. Pudi, a programmer and analyst.
His parents went to the United States and were naturalized citizens: his mother was from the hamlet of Pokono in Poland, while his father was from a Telugu Christian family from the village of Poduru in India. With his mother and grandmother, Pudi grew up speaking Polish.
He grew up on Chicago’s South Side with his brother Adam and sister Katherine, but went to Notre Dame College Prep in Niles, Illinois. He delivered the commencement lecture at Notre Dame College Prep in 2013.
Education
Pudi studied dance in Chicago and earned a bachelor’s degree in communication and theatre from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2001. He was the first recipient of the Chris Farley Scholarship at Marquette.
In addition to covering the cost of a year of school, the scholarship allowed him to perform at an improv comedy event with Jim Breuer and Dave Chappelle, which piqued his interest in improve.
