Not only did he have to watch his mother, Betty Wood, battle cancer, but his relationship with the mother of his first son, Daniel, and his two-year girlfriend also took a hit.
He had been married to Miami songwriter Patricia Alfaro for two years when his mother died of cancer in 1999. The former married couple, who married in 1997, met a year earlier at an Orlando music studio.
However, his mother’s death harmed the couple’s marriage, which ended in 2006. In an interview with Etonline, the “You Got It” singer acknowledged this nearly 12 years after his divorce from Patricia. He went on to say:
“She (Betty) had such a strong influence on my life that I just couldn’t accept it. It was that for me and other issues for her that led to the end of our marriage.”The so-called other issues were a direct reference to his ex-claims wife’s of his extramarital affairs, which shattered the marriage of the former married couple.
Despite their bitter divorce, they have not let it affect their relationship with their children: daughters Chance, 20, and Vega, 19,, and son Anthony (from Patricia’s previous marriage), 26.
Danny exemplifies what it means to have a fruitful relationship with children as a single father, from attending his son’s (Daniel) birthday to making “a pilgrimage” to New Kids On The Block’s walk of fame on Hollywood Boulevard.
Speaking of being single, the father of four has been adamant about disclosing his current relationship status. He stated in a 2015 interview with the Las Vegas Sun:
“I’m a single father, a single divorced father, and that consumes a lot of my time.”Danny made these claims while on tour with his fellow New Kids On The Block bandmates.
Danny Wood has a girlfriend, and he’s amassing a sizable net worth as a result of his tours and song releases.
Even after two years, his claims have been refuted!

Interestingly, Danny, 49, has found a strange companion in his dog, so much so that he refers to it as his girlfriend.
In another case, the Boston native, who has a reported net worth of $16 million, posted an Instagram collage of him and his dog drinking a beer with the caption:
“I’m going to spend the weekend with my #gf and some @millerhighlife light!”When he isn’t bonding with his children or flaunting his “girlfriend-like” relationship with his dog, the When The Lights Go Out singer is enjoying his tour life as a solo act and as a member of New Kids On The Block.
Danny and his bandmates are currently on the US leg of The MixTape Tour, which also includes singers Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, as well as legendary rap groups Salt-N-Pepa and Naughty By Nature.
They will perform songs from Danny’s discography as well as the the group’s most recent single, 80’s Baby.
