Darius Rucker was born in the United States on May 13, 1966, in Charleston, South Carolina. Darius Carlos Rucker is his given name. He is an American citizen. Rucker is of African-American descent, and his zodiac sign is Taurus.

Carolyn Rucker, a nurse at the Medical University of South Carolina, raised Darius Rucker together with his three sisters and two brothers. Rucker’s father was a member of the gospel group “The Traveling Echoes” and was never present during his upbringing.

He grew raised in a traditional Southern African-American household, where his family went to church every Sunday. His mother, her two sisters, his grandmother, and 14 children lived in a three-bedroom house due to their bad financial situation.
