David Ludden

From 1966 through 1970, Ludden attended Yale University. Following that, David enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in South Asia Regional Studies at the university. Ludden earned his Ph.D. and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978.

Career

David began working as an assistant professor of history at the University of Virginia in 1979 after getting his Ph.D. He lectured for a year at the university before returning to the University of Pennsylvania. From 1981 through 2007, David was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. From 1981 until 1987, he was a professor at the institution, where he worked as an assistant professor. In 1987, Ludden was promoted to associate professor, and he taught for two years before being elevated to full professor in 1999. Until 2008, he was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. From 1992 to 1995, David was the chairman of the university’s South Asia Department.

David enrolled to New York University in 2007. He began his career in the Department of History as a professor of political economy and globalization. Ludden also works at the Institute for Public Knowledge as a Senior Fellow. David also works as an Emeritus Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He has affiliations with a number of universities. In 2005, he worked at BRAC University in Dhaka as a visiting professor for developmental research.

David has also served as the director of South Asian programs at the University of Pennsylvania, the Fulbright Senior Scholars Program (CIES), New York University, and the Social Science Research Council. Aside from being a professor, David worked at the University of Pennsylvania Press from 1997 to 2000 as an editor for the Critical Histories book series.
