Do you want to learn more about him? Here are a few facts to keep in mind.

Early years and professional life

Evans was born on November 15, 1952, in Manchester Parish, Jamaica, to a single mother who gave him away at the age of three months. His adoptive father, Stanford Rose, was a farmer on a small Jamaican farm. Evans claims he was exploited sexually as a child. In 1961, he and his adopted family relocated to Leicester, England, where his father worked as a laborer in a knitwear factory. Evans’ mother, Teresa, left the UK after two years due to the environment, but his adoptive father remained until Evans was seventeen. Evans’ first job, at the age of seventeen, was in the consumer complaints department of the East Midlands Gas Board. He later sold costume jewelry in high street shops and became financially stable.

He was a fitness instructor at a church hall in Neasden, North West London, in 1983. His classes were so successful that the British Heart Foundation asked him to offer classes all over the world. He applied to ITV several times before being recruited by Greg Dyke for the GMTV breakfast show in 1993.

Mr Motivator, according to Evans, was inspired by the street performances he, Richard Madeley, and Judy Finnigan put on for audiences in shopping malls and streets. Evans’ name stuck after Finnigan yelled that he was a motivator.

Private life

Evans splits his time between Jamaica and the United Kingdom with his wife Sandra Palmer and youngest daughter in St Ann, Jamaica. He has been married three times and was previously married to Olympic javelin champion Tessa Sanderson.
