Chidhood and Education

On January 21, 2001, Dhruv Jurel was born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Nem Singh Jurel, his father, served in the Indian Army as a Havildar and took part in the Kargil War. He has an older sister named Neru Jurel, and his mother Rajni Jurel stays at home. He was a student at Agra’s Army Public School. Even though his father intended him to become an army officer, he has always  interested in athletics and studied hard to pass the National Defence Academy entrance exam. While attending a 60-day sports camp in the eighth grade, he had intended to enroll in swimming classes. However, he saw several boys playing cricket and decided to join a cricket camp without telling his parents.

After reading an article about him in the newspaper, his father tried to talk Dhruva into playing different sports, but Dhruva assured him that this was not his plan. After that, his father started helping him. He received coaching from Abhay Singh at Aster Cricket Academy in Noida Extension and Parvendra Yadav at Springdale Cricket Academy in Agra.

Professional life and Career

His total score in the Under-17 Schools National Cricket T20 Championship in 2014 was over 600 runs, with four hundred and two half-centuries among his total runs scored in six matches. After that, he  selected for the Uttar Pradesh Under-14 team. He played in three Raj Singh Dungarpur Trophy matches in 2015, amassing 152 runs, including 137 against Madhya Pradesh in the championship match. After being selected for the Uttar Pradesh Under-16 squad in 2015, he participated in the 2015–16 Vijay Merchant Trophy. He participated in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy in both 2018–19 and 2019–20 after being selected for the Uttar Pradesh Under-19 squad in 2018. On October 16, 2018, he scored a half-century in his debut domestic Under-19 ODI match against Jharkhand Under-19.

In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on January 10, 2021, Dhruv, who was selected for Uttar Pradesh in 2021, made his T20I debut by hitting 23 runs off of 30 balls against Punjab. On February 17, 2022, he participated in his first Ranji encounter against Vidarbha, scoring 64 runs in the first and 4 in the second. He  selected for the CK Nayudu Trophy in 2022 as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Under-25 team.

Dhruv participated in the 2019 Asian Cricket Council Under-19 Asia Cup and the 2019 England Tri-Nation Under-19 Tournament after being selected for the Indian Under-19 squad. He later participated in the 2018-19 Under-19 Challenger Trophy after being selected for the India Under-19 Blue team. He also  selected for the India Under-19 A team, and in the 2018–19 India Under-19 Quadrangular Tournament, he faced Afghanistan Under-19, South Africa Under-19, and India Under-19 B. Jurel led India’s Under-19 team as vice captain during the 2019–20 ICC Under-19 World Cup.

In the mega-auction of 2022, Dhruv Jurel also purchased by the Rajasthan Royals for a starting price of Rs 20 lakh. He did not participate in any games during the 2022 IPL season. However, on April 5, 2023, he made his IPL debut in the next season in Guwahati against Punjab Kings, scoring 32 runs in 15 balls with three fours and two sixes. Dhruv showed off his talent by hitting two fours and two sixes in his 34 runs in 16 balls. In just 15 balls, he scored 34 runs, hitting two sixes and three fours.
