What is the Net worth and Salary of Domagoj Vida?

Domagoj Vida has a net worth of $4 million as of 2021, largely due to his football career. Vida’s net worth should come as no surprise given that he is in his 16th year as a professional.

Similarly, the Croatian international is valued at €8 million on the TransferMarkt website, which is a good price for a 32-year-old defender. Vida’s overall transfer value over the course of his career is €17.75 million.

Early Life and Family of Domagoj Vida

Domagoj was born on April 29, 1989, in Nasice, Croatia’s easternmost city.

Zeljka Vida, his mother, was a regular homemaker, whereas Rudika Vida, his father, was a professional footballer.

As a result, whenever Vida and his brother, Hrvoje Vida, weren’t studying, they enjoyed playing football together. In fact, the Croatians would think of nothing else except football even in school.

As a result, Domagoj joined his local club’s youth academy, NK Osi. Vida continued with the club for a few years after that before Osijek swooped in and snatched him up.

It would be in Osijek that the Croatian would make his professional debut.

Football Career of Domagoj Vida

Domagoj made his professional debut in 2006, at the youthful age of 17, shortly after joining Osijek.

The Croatian would only make 12 appearances in his rookie season after that, as he needed time to mature and adjust. Vida, on the other hand, had pleased his management sufficiently to earn a starting spot the next season.

And that’s exactly what happened, as the talented center back firmly established himself in the starting lineup.

Vida, for example, participated in 22 games for the club, starting nearly all of them.

Domagoj then stayed with the club for another two years before joining Bundesliga powerhouse Bayer Leverkusen.

At the time of his transfer, the Croatian international had played 95 games for Osijek, scoring six goals and providing four assists.

Domagoj signed a €3 million contract with Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen on April 29, 2010 after leaving Osijek.

It appeared that the Croatian center had made it to the big leagues after that, but it was not to be.

Vida played just one season for Bayer Leverkusen.

Vida, for example, only made nine appearances over the entire season. In reality, the 32-year-old has only made one appearance in the Bundesliga, and that was as a substitute.

Domagoj joined Bayer in the hopes of becoming a superstar, but his time there turned out to be hell instead.

Vida decided to leave the club after only one season in order to get more playing time. Domagoj’s demand for greater playing time was granted when he was signed by Croatia’s biggest club, Dinamo Zagreb, for a reputed €1.75 million contract.

Following that, the Croatian center back established himself as a key member of Dinamo’s defense, appearing in 47 games and helping the team win the league title.

The season was not without controversy, however, as television footage showed Vida winking just after Lyon scored their fifth goal in a Champions League match against Lyon.

As a result, there was widespread speculation that the match had been rigged, with Vida being a prominent suspect. However, due to a lack of proof, UEFA did not take any action against the club or the player.

The following season with Dinamo was possibly the worst of his professional career. Domagoj, for example, was involved in numerous altercations throughout the season, limiting his appearances to only 28.

Vida was booted from the bus on September 24, 2012, for opening a beer on the way to a cup match. In addition, the Croatian international had a number of conflicts with his coach, which resulted in him being benched for a number of games.

Dinamo Zagreb chose to sell Domagoj as a result. Many clubs expressed interest in signing the promising defender, but in the end, Vida’s services were obtained by Ukrainian superpower Dynamo Kyiv.

Specifically, Dynamo paid Zagreb a €6 million transfer fee for the Croatian center defender. Domagoj then spent five years with the capital club, where he had numerous memorable moments.

Dynamo Kyiv won the 2014-15 Ukrainian Premier League.

Vida, for example, scored the game-winning goal against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk to help his team win the Ukrainian Premier League for the first time in six years in 2014-15.

Dynamo Kyiv won the league title again the following season, with Domagoj once again proving to be a key member of the title-winning squad.

After that, the Croatian international spent another two years with Dynamo before embarking on a new adventure. Vida had appeared in a total of 161 games for Dynamo Kyiv, scoring 13 goals and assisting on eight occasions.

In addition, with the club, the Croatian footballer won two Ukrainian Premier Leagues. Overall, Vida’s stint with Dynamo was marked by both highs and lows.

Despite this, the Croatian center determined that a change of scenery was required to advance his game. Domagoj accomplished the same thing when he transferred to Turkish giants Besiktas for €9 million in the winter of 2018.

Many fans and analysts thought the transfer cost paid for the defender was excessive.

Vida, on the other hand, seemed unfazed and continued his excellent form. In fact, Domagoj’s form for Besiktas was so good that the club chose to make him the highest-paid player on the team.

Despite earning a large wage at Besiktas, Vida has failed to win any titles in his two seasons with the club. Besiktas, on the other hand, is nine points behind the leaders this season, with eight games remaining.

As a result, we are confident in Besiktas and Vida’s ability to overcome the deficit and win this season. But first, the league must resume, as it has been impacted by the global Corona Virus epidemic (COVID-19).

Severed Head Injury of Domagoj Vida

Vida suffered a major head injury in 2017 while playing for Dynamo Kyiv after colliding with Cameroonian right-winger Moumi Ngamaleu. His head had burst open as a result of the collision, and he was covered in blood.

Domagoj Vida/ Croatia

Vida’s international career began on May 23, 2010, with a 2-0 victory over Wales. Domagoj was then named to the UEFA Euro 2012 roster following an outstanding performance for the national team.

The Besiktas center back, on the other hand, would only appear once throughout the entire competition. Domagoj’s first goal for the national team came against South Korea in a friendly on September 20, 2013.

Vida’s first appearance at the World Cup was also in 2014. The 32-year-old, on the other hand, did not appear in any of Croatia’s games at the tournament.

Despite this, the Besiktas defender gained significant experience that he will benefit from in the future. Vida then stepped up his game, vowing to make himself a starter by the time the Euros arrived.

And that’s exactly what Domagoj did throughout the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament, as he appeared in three games. Croatia was unfortunately eliminated by eventual winners Portugal.

Despite this, Croatia’s national squad has shown enough talent to be regarded a dark horse for the 2017 FIFA World Cup.

Vida’s great performances helped Croatia reach the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. In reality, following Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, Domagaj was Croatia’s finest player.

For example, in the quarter-final against host Russia, the 32-year-old scored a header to give his team a 2-1 lead in extra time. Vida also assisted Ivan Perisic on Croatia’s game-winning goal against France in the final.

France eventually won the World Cup by defeating Croatia 4-2. Nonetheless, the Croatian national team had outperformed all expectations, as no one expected them to reach the World Cup final.

Domagoj’s popularity soared as a result of his outstanding performances at the competition.

As a result, on October 15, 2018, the Besiktas defender captained his national team for the first time. In addition, the Croatian defender marked the occasion by scoring in a 2-1 victory over Jordan.

Vida has made 79 appearances for the national team, scoring four goals in the process. We don’t think anyone will be surprised if Croatian center back Domagoj makes 100 appearances for his country, based on his talent and consistency.

Age, Height and Body Measurements of Domagoj Vida

Vida is 32 years old at the present, having been born in the year 1989. The Croatian center back, on the other hand, has shown no signs of slowing down. Instead, the 32-year-old has gained valuable experience that has helped him improve as a defender.

Vida has a muscular upper body.

Domagoj is also a good height for a central defender, standing at exactly 6 feet (1.84 meters).

For example, center backs must continually compete with opposition center forwards for airballs while still keeping an eye on them on the ground.

Because most goals are scored from set-pieces or by punting the ball straight from the goal line, a central defender must be strong on the ground and in the air.

Vida, a Croatian international, checks all of those boxes, which is why he is regarded as one of the top center backs in the world.

Quotes

  • I respect the Russian nation. This was just a joke for my Ukrainian friends. Football is outside politics. I didn’t mean anything bad.
  • I regret that some media representatives have interpreted our communication in such a manner. It was definitely no political message, but a simple thank you for all the support from Ukraine, where Vukojevic and I spent a number of years.

Wife & Kids of Domagoj Vida

Vida is a defender by profession on the football field, but the Croatian international has scored a lot of goals off it. To clarify, Domagoj and his wife, Ivana Gugic Vida, are happily married.

Ivana, on the other hand, was an economics student in high school and Miss Croatia in 2014. And it was in 2014 when the couple first began dating.

Following three years of dating, the couple married in front of more than 400 guests in June 2017.

Surprisingly, the couple’s son, David Vida, was also in attendance. David was born in 2015, less than a year after the couple began dating.

David was outfitted in a little black tuxedo for the ceremony, and he stole the show on his parents’ big day.

The two lovebirds have been out of the spotlight since then. Instead, as Domagoj’s Instagram suggests, the couple is head over heels in love with each other.
