Career in Ice Hockey:

Dustin Byfuglien played junior hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings and Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League. He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2003. Dustin was a defense attorney in the start of his career. He joined the Rockford IceHogs after two seasons.

He was also named Player of the Week by the American Hockey League. Dustin returned to the Blackhawks on November 3, 2007. While plating for the Blackhawks, he scored his first hat-trick against the Phoenix Coyotes. He did, however, lead the Blackhawks to Stanley Cup victories in 2010. With 11 goals and 5 assists, he was able to win the cup.

The Chicago Blackhawks traded him to the Atlanta Thrashers in 2010. Within a few months, Dustin had appointed the team’s alternate captain. In 2011, at the 2011 All-Star Game’s Skill Competition, he hit 102 mph with a slap-shot. On February 15, 2011, he extended his contract with the Atlanta Thrashers for another five years for $26 million. In the 2011-12 season, Dustin had 12 goals and 41 assists with the Atlanta Thrashers.

His performance delighted the Winnipeg Jets, who signed him to a five-year contract worth $38 million on February 8, 2016. Byfuglien has agreed to stay with the Jets for the 2020-2021 season.
